4 Crucial Web Design Tips for a Professional-looking Website

What constitutes a professional website? Well, it has to be functional first and foremost. Second, it has to come with design elements that are relevant to the brand or service. And third, it should come with some great content as well.

Although beauty is subject as we have different criteria about the notion, but this is not to say that there are no ground rules when it comes to a beautiful web design. Here are some tips to help your website look professional based on the website application development:

  1. You Would Want The Website Design to Be as Minimalist and Clutter-free as Possible

Back then, people would read every text they can find on a webpage. But now, we are just scanning and saving our time as much as possible.

As a web developer, it is best that you keep your website as minimalist as possible. Your goal is to have everything laid out in a neat way. You do not want to clutter your homepage with unnecessary things; only add ones that provide good value to your customers.

You do not need a lot of Call-to-action buttons, for example. You only need one that is prominently placed on your home/landing page. Moreover, you want your paragraphs to be readable and you also want to use headings and subheadings to make your content legible.

  1. Arrange Your Website Content Well

To further my previous point, you want to make sure that your content is arranged well for easier navigation.

The best thing you can implement for this would be website strips. Most websites nowadays only have one page for all of their content, but you might be thinking, “how is that possible without cluttering the interface?”

Well, if you do not know, website strips give you the power to add more content on a single page without having to cram everything in one piece. Basically, when you scroll down, users will be greeted by another page and so on.

This is the type of visual hierarchy you should consider implementing. Add color and contrast as you see fit, but do not go overboard with the colors.

  1. Your Website Should Be Navigable

A lot of people won’t be likely to stay on a website that has poor navigation. You must incorporate some elements that will help your visitors navigate through your website with ease.

First, you must have a company or brand logo. In the logo, you should embed the link to your homepage (this presupposes that you have a homepage and not just one huge scrolling page like the one I mentioned in the previous point).

Second, incorporate an anchor menu. Whenever a person scrolls down the page, this special menu will be dragged down along with the slider so that if they choose to go up the page again, they can simply just click the option on the menu.

Lastly, your footer is also important. Even though it is placed at the bottom of the page, you should still utilize the space by adding some links to relevant content or to your other offerings.

  1. Use a Mobile-Friendly Design

As our society evolves, so, too, are our devices. People use smartphones now more than ever before and they pretty much use it for just about anything online. And, did you know that they use it for accessing the internet too?

Ensuring that you make your website mobile-friendly is of paramount importance. If your website does not scale well on mobile, then you’re really missing out on the vast majority of people that could’ve been converted to be as your customers.
